CAN YOU REALLY 'HAVE IT ALL' AS A WOMAN?
As women, we’ve all heard how it’s impossible to ‘have it all.’ The media loves to scare us into thinking we have to make a decision between career and kids, and how no one is really able to balance the two which can be a little stressful as someone that wants both a family and a good job. Don’t listen to what they say, it really is possible to have it all and genuinely have your life together if you go about things the right way, here are some ideas to help you out.
Organise your time
All of us feel like we have so much to do that there’s simply not enough hours in the day. As a busy parent you’re probably up early, in bed late and barely stop all day long, working through your to- do list and chores and running around after your kids. In order to fit everything in and stay sane, organisation and routine are important. Spending an hour each evening getting prepared for the day ahead prevents you from running late, this means things like preparing packed lunches, laying out clean clothes, packing work bags and getting showered the evening before. If you spend ten minutes each day cleaning and tidying your home, you’ll find it much easier to stay on top of and won’t have to dedicate a whole weekend to it. Routine might be mundane but it definitely helps you to make the most of your time and ensures everything that needs to be done has been tackled each day.
Find flexible ways to work
Working while raising kids is always going to be difficult. As women, we tend to be the primary caregivers to our children which involves most of the responsibility around day to day care, looking after them when they’re unwell and generally being there when we’re needed. For this reason, trying to juggle a job around it isnt the easiest thing in the world, however this day in age things are getting better. Having the ability to work from home in a flexible way allows moms to earn money in a way that suits them and their families, whether it be through blogging, freelancing, Youtube or remote work. You could even start your own home based business, hire a web design company to create you something custom and beautiful and go from there.
Keep building your skills
While taking care of your family is always going to be your first priority, don’t forget about yourself too. It’s easy to lose your identity when you become a parent, continuing with hobbies or pushing yourself to learn new skills can be something that’s just for you. It could be a weekly class in your local area, or an online course at a college or university. These are all flexible ways to learn new things, build your skills and have some time for yourself.
