PUTTING TOGETHER THE PERFECT GYM OUTFIT

So, you’re heading to the gym, perhaps for the first time or for the first time in a long time to complete a full wellness plan, and you want to make sure that you both look and feel the part. Of course, the effectiveness of a good gym outfit goes a lot deeper than aesthetics, but here we’re going to look at some of the components of the outfit that can help you excel.

Give yourself the right support

Don’t go anywhere without a decent sports bra. Do not underestimate the importance of giving yourself some real support. Try them out at home before you decide they’re right for working out by jogging in one spot. Any chafing, any malfunctions, and you should be changing it. Make sure that you’re choosing one that fits your actual bra size, rather than choosing from simple S, M, or L options. Precision matters more, not less, with fitness bras when it comes to staying comfortable while you’re working out.

Fitting is far from unimportant

Once you’ve got the kind of support you need to stop everything from moving in every direction, then you need to choose clothes that help you maintain your range of mobility. Too tight, and you can restrict yourself, too loose, and you can get your clothes tangled more easily. Clothes like booty scrunch leggings and a decent cropped tea should offer the kind of fit that you need. Not only does it keep you comfortable, but the right fit reduces your chances of injuring yourself, too.

You’re doing great, sweaty

Sweat. We all do it, especially when we’re working out. The purpose of choosing clothes that help you deal with it isn’t to stop you from sweating, but to make sure that your sweat doesn’t end up making the workout more uncomfortable. Sweat can cool us down or make us too hot, depending on the situation and conditions. As such, sweat-wicking materials like synthetic wool can be a godsend. A good sweatband to wipe your forehead is a good idea, as well. This is especially true in the cold, where sweating can quickly decrease your temperature, leaving you at risk of hypothermia.

Don’t break a toe

If you’re doing any kind of high-impact cardio workout, such as running, jump rope, CrossFit or the like, then you should mind your feet. They’re going to take the brunt of that pressure and without the right support, you can end up genuinely injuring them, whether by breaking a toe, straining a muscle, or experiencing the highly painful plantar fasciitis. Make sure that you choose a good pair of running shoes that is the appropriate fit and offers enough sole and arch support to prevent some of the most common fitness foot injuries.

You should dress for success, as they say, and that piece of advice is as relevant to the gym as it is to business, your social life, and anything else. Keep the tips above in mind when you’re heading back to the gym.
